im running firmware 5.50 gen-d3 but im trying to sign into account management for ps3 but its not working it says the firmware needs updating whys this.? because i dont have the files on my memory stick?

Maybe the PS3 is detecting you are using CFW (GEN). Try updating to the latest GEN, either it'll be new enough for PS3 or make the PS3 think it is...
