Yeah i saw that while searching the web for an answer but this will stop my homebrew stuff working. I read somewhere (for an earlier version of CF) that the developers took out this option for some unknown reason.
I also read this:
Possibility to use
the XGEN Updater to install the official firmware 6.10 (use it only if
you have a Pandora XGEN to be able to return later in Custom firmware)
Any light on the situation would be greatly aprecciated
Thanks, Kev

Maybe 5.5 GEN has a thing where it can't detect CFW or it's spoofed to a higher version.

Im on 5.5GEN-D2 now i just installed the update the day it came out and still nothing, if i try to connect via a private network it works fine (although my ps3 crashes trying to access play tv) but when i try to log in via the internet i just get a message saying a system software update is needed
As for the ps3 i have to OFW on it, whichever is the latest.
Thanks Kevin

naw the the update allert is built into the ps3's firmwere my guess is the only reason it works via wifi at all is cause of a glitch.... aperently there is a way to fake your version i dono how it's done but i'm sure someone here knows how.... i think it has something to do with the version.txt in flash0 but from what i've herd it only works in 5.0 m33

What it seems to be with me is when you go on remote play over the internet (not a private network) it goes through the playstation network which is linked to the playstation store so untill access is gained through that, i think im SOL for now...

That's what I said, over internet checks the PSN for updates, where over WiFi/private network doesn't.
If you can try to make your own update server that reports whatever you have as the newest version and use DNS to connect your PSP to it instead of Sony's you might be able to bypass it. I know there is a way to get a PS3 on the PSN without updating by using an alternate server that reports firmware 1.00 to be the highest so whatever you have is thought to be newer than the latest firmware...
