One advantage of having a modified PSP is the ability to play commercial PSP games off the memory stick. This guide will show you how to copy and run your own games.
For M33 Users (Atleast 3.52 M33-2 Needed)
You need atleast 3.52 M33-2 to do this. First off goto recovery mode by pressing the "R" trigger while cold booting your PSP (turning it on when it is completely off, not in sleep mode. From the menu goto Configuation --> Use VSH Menu and make sure it's on.
Startup the firmware and make sure the UMD is there and cab be read. You need to be at the xMB. Press home if on 3.52 M33 or select if on 3.7x or up to opne the VSH menu.
Using the arrows, goto "USB Device" and Pick "UMD Disk." With this option set enter USB Mode like you want to put files on your memory stick:
On your computer a "Memory Stick" will show up (Called ULUS-***** or ULES-*****, etc). In the drive will be UMD9660.ISO, this is an ISO Image File of your UMD. Copy it like any file. When you are done you must remember to set the "USB Device" back to memory stick to access it after! Also for this to work you need a UMD and a memory stick in your PSP, if there is just a UMD it will say "Please insert a disk into x".
The file is huge, you may want to compress it to save space! Install PSP ISO Compressor!
First select "Compress ISO -> CSO" (Red). Now choose the ISO (Yellow). A dialog box will come up saying the path of the file you picked, press ok to continue. Now if you want UMD9660.ISO to be named UMD9660.cso in the same folder then leave it (You can rename/move before of after). Click the blue ... to browse and save, if you know howto edit the path, you may (simply look at everything after the last backslash ("\" not"/" !) and rename it, make sure .cso is in the name. Click Compress at the bottom right hand corner. A DOS window (Black background white writing) will come up and show the staus, when it's done you will be returned to PSP ISO Compressor. Repeat to process if you have to, or press exit. You may try JSO or Dax, but you will need an extra program to run them, I will not cover this.
Now copy the CSO file to your memory stick. On your memory stick make a folder called "ISO" and put it here. ALSO MAKE SURE THERE IS A FOLDER CALLED PSP AND INSIDE THAT ONE A FOLDER CALLED GAME! If there isn't then it will say "There are no games" when you goto Game --> Memory Stick, even if there are ISOs!
Now goto the xMB. Remember our VSH Menu?:
Below "USB Device" is "UMD Mode," here is is set to "Normal," in this mode if you start an ISO with no UMD in the drive it will say "The Game Cannot be started," you have to insert a UMD, or better change it. I personally use M33 Driver. Some games might not work with M33 driver, if not try the others. If not, then insert a UMD and select normal! If you don't select normal it will still be in the unsupported mode, even if there is a UMD in the drive. However, every game I tried works. I haven't needed a UMD in the drive since the days of Devhook! Now goto Game --> Memory Stick and start that game!
For 1.5/Devhook Users
To copy the UMD to an ISO, run this homebrew. You will needs lots of space on your memory stick, since this method copies right to the memory stick! It puts it in PSP/ISO for you, but if you copy an other game it will erase the old one, so rename (if you cannot make it to a PC, use PSP Filer to rename. You can also compress the file (see above) to CSO. Run Devhook and select the ISO from the menu there.
