What is CTF?
CTF is a theme format for PSP, before CTF there was PTF but only could change the icons and wallpaper. RCO themes (themes being used since like 3.03 OE with CFW) could do more, that plus icon position and size, and sounds. With CXMB 3.1 there was CTF, RCO themes converted into one file. The PRX plugin modified the PTF chooser and allows one to select CTF as well.

Why is CTF better than plain RCO?

Because before CTF one has to flash the themes to their PSP's nand (modify the firmware), this made switching themes hard and one needed to be at a computer and one could brick. With CTF one would simply choose the theme. If something goes wrong instead of bricking one can just disable CXMB, start without the MS, or delete the preference file and re-pick a theme. Also having all the modified firmware files on one file makes things easier.

1. Download this file. (CRC:FA6E9C21)
2. Extract the PSP and CXMB folders to the root folder of the memory stick.
3. In the root folder make a folder called "seplugins" if it does not exist.
4. If there isn't a notepad file called vsh(.txt) make one (right click--> New-->Text File)
5. To the vsh file add this "ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx"
6. Goto recovery mode (Hold the "R" trigger while the PSP is booting and goto "Plugins" and enable "cxmb.prx"
7. Goto theme settings too select the theme.

You may download CTF themes and place them in the "Theme" folder in the "PSP" folder.

It loads off the memory stick, and if you put file on that would normally brick your PSP it only doesnt start when the MS is there and the plugin is on, so you can disable the plugin and go back to normal and fix it.

ok, one more thing, as you can see, I'm fairly new at this. In the link posted above, cxmb 3.1 is for 3.90, and I'm running 3.80.... is there a version for that cfw 3.80 m33 or will cxmb 3.1 work as long as I use the 3.80 themes?

I think most 3.90 themes are 3.80 themes except without an icon for Skype (3.80 doesnt have it, 3.90 does).

I am not sure, you may have to get a CXMB for 3.80, or you could just update to 3.90...

I am updating this for 4.01 M33. The 3.90 M33 info is posted below for archival purposes:

How/Where to start (Where can I get CXMB)
Go here and get CXMB and some of the CTFs there.

Cuz I don't have time fo' dat shiat.

been a while since I used ebonics. On PDA you actually get a keyboard so I have less reason to...

But ya I am too lazy to have to go out and get all my CTFs again every time a new firmware comes out, there has to be an easier way...

that doesn't explain why you won't do it to the lastest firmware. It just explains that you are going to not doing, and if you do it then it will be for 4.01, when you can rather do it to the lastest firmware instead of 4.01.

If you are going to go through the effort of porting the themes. Why not port it to the latest firmware?

I didn't port them, I got them from other sites.

At the time 4.01 was the latest firmware, but you weren't here then...
